What is the course about?
Supply Chain Capacity Development (SCCD) is crucial for meeting the growing demands on aid delivery and as a key component of health system strengthening. SCCD is a complex and costly undertaking, which requires skills and knowledge beyond operational supply chain expertise. It is no longer about forecasting or procurement for the next campaign, or fire-fighting stock-outs. It is about systematically preparing for and undertaking capacity improvements.
The course focuses on national health supply chain systems strengthening and related theories of change. Participants learn about what makes a supply chain functional, and how to approach supply chain capacity-building systemically, to make the most of supply chain development activities. Participants will also learn about the tools and techniques for embarking on SCCD reforms within their organization, to detect early warnings of potential stock shortages, and to manage the entire supply chain capacity development programme cycle for successful and sustainable development.

This is a residential course and the registration fee includes five days of training, six nights of accommodation (Saturday to Thursday), all meals, refreshments, training materials and stationery.
